Cascaded planning

Connect the whole business to the plan.

01Strategic directionWhere we are going and the choices that matter.
02Annual operating planThe outcomes, measures and major initiatives for the year.
0390-day prioritiesThe specific priorities to advance this quarter.
04Monthly commitmentsMilestones, decisions and deliverables for the month.
05Weekly actionsThe next actions, owners and due dates.

Then cascade to teams and individuals

Translate each priority into team plans and individual commitments. Agree who owns the outcome, what success looks like and how progress will be reviewed. The plan becomes a shared responsibility.

A practical example

Illustrative example: a business chooses to improve customer retention. Its annual plan sets a retention measure. The next 90 days focus on a repeatable account review process. Monthly commitments cover customer segmentation and review schedules. Weekly actions identify who will contact which customers. Team and individual plans make ownership explicit.

Execution

Review what is happening and adjust early.

Progress reviews connect completed actions with actual business results. Use a simple dashboard and traffic-light review to see what is on track, what needs attention and what must change.

Monthly coaching and Momentum Calls create regular opportunities to challenge assumptions, address roadblocks and reset commitments.

Owner leadership development runs alongside this work so that delegation, decision-making and accountability support the plan.

Annual planning

Review the business position and agree the annual operating plan. Connect it with strategic direction and translate it into the first 90-day priorities.

Quarterly reviews and Strategy Days

Quarterly planning updates review results and reset priorities. Dedicated Strategy Days give owners and leadership teams more time to tackle major choices, build alignment and cascade the next stage of the plan.

Annual planning and quarterly updates are included in the coaching rhythm. Dedicated Strategy Days, larger workshops and broader strategic planning projects are scoped separately where they extend beyond the agreed engagement.

Strategy and execution FAQs

What is cascaded planning?

It connects strategic direction to an annual operating plan, 90-day priorities, monthly commitments and weekly actions. Responsibilities and measures then cascade to teams and individuals so everyone can see how their work contributes.

Are Strategy Days included?

Annual planning and quarterly planning updates are part of the coaching rhythm. A dedicated facilitated Strategy Day or larger team workshop can be arranged. Its scope and fee are agreed separately where it sits outside your coaching arrangements.
